Seventh-day Adventists occupy a very special place in the religious world, seeing themselves as Bible-believing Christians who carry a responsibility to safeguard sacred truth and preach the gospel, in accordance with Jesus' commission of Matthew 28:19, 20.

Over the course of Adventism's more than 160 years, it has faced numerous tests and trials, resulting in various streams of religious conviction. In that setting, the Reform Movement has a perspective on Adventist history with which everyone should be familiar, for it will be increasingly relevant in the near future.
